Japan’s Masahiro Kawamura will headline a strong contingent of Japan Golf Tour players set to contest the Fiji International presented by Fiji Airways.

Taking advantage of a break in the Japan schedule, Kawamura, Matthew Griffin, Michael Hendry, David Bransdon, Anthony Quayle, Todd Sinnott, Aaron Townsend, Scott Strange and David Smail are all jetting to paradise to tee it up in the Fiji tournament tri-sanctioned by the ISPS HANDA PGA Tour of Australasia, Asian Tour and European Tour.

Kawamura, who finished tied 39th at The Open last week after qualifying via a runner-up finish at the Mizuno Open, will be competing in the Fiji International presented by Fiji Airways for the first time.

“I am very much looking forward to playing in the Fiji International presented by Fiji Airways, I have heard that the course is challenging but very beautiful,” said Kawamura.

“It has been a busy time preparing for and playing in The Open, so I hope to also enjoy some time relaxing in Fiji and enjoying the beach.”

Fiji has opened up to the land of the rising sun and is now just a short flight away thanks to the new direct route from Tokyo to Nadi, return.

“Japan is our new tourism focus and already we are seeing full Fiji Airways flights landing from Tokyo,” said Minister for Industry, Trade, Tourism, Lands and Mineral Resources, the Honourable Faiyaz Siddiq Koya.

“Renowned as passionate golfers, our aim is to entice Japanese visitors to Fiji for a golfing holiday and the Fiji International presented by Fiji Airways is the perfect way to showcase our beautiful country and the quality golf courses we have to offer.

“Ï hope that Masahiro Kawamura enjoys his time in Fiji and that Japanese golf fans tune into the live stream available on PGA TV to watch him in action.”

The PGA is pleased to provide a live stream of the Fiji International presented by Fiji Airways direct to Japan and Australia via PGA TV.

“PGA TV was successfully launched in 2017 and the live stream of the Fiji International presented by Fiji Airways was incredibly popular in Australia last year,” said Gavin Kirkman CEO of the PGA of Australia which owns the ISPS HANDA PGA Tour of Australasia.

“Expanding PGA TV coverage of the tournament into Japan ensures Fiji is being showcased as a must visit golfing destination and we anticipate that the interest from Japanese golfers will increase off the back of the Fiji International presented by Fiji Airways.”

Live streaming on PGA TV is available during Australian broadcast hours on pga.org.au
