fijiintlThe Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism is proud to announce the winners of the 2016 Fijian Made Inner Sanctum Competition and they are Wrenn Edwards of Pacific Harbor and Ruhi Hakim of Suva.

Launched on Thursday 01 September 2016 by the Minister Hon. Faiyaz Siddiq Koya, the competition ran in conjunction with the Fiji International “Give Golf a Go” Roadshow. This provided the golden opportunity for the winners to exclusively experience and be part of the Fiji International tournament held at the Natadola Bay Championship Golf Course.

To enter the competition Fijians were invited to either take a picture of a product carrying any of the “Fijian Made – Buy Fijian” Campaign logo or alternatively take a picture at any Fiji International “Give Golf a Go” Roadshow sites, with the Fijian Made cut outs. Thereafter, interested individuals were requested to simply upload their entry on the Fijian Made Facebook page using the hashtags #FijianMade, #FijiIntl or #Fijinow to validate their participation.

The two winners will be treated with a friend, to one night’s accommodation at the Shangri-La Fijian Resort and behind-the-scenes tour of the Fiji International.

In addition, they will also receive a “Fijian Made” hamper and an opportunity to meet the Fiji International Brand Ambassadors, our Sevens Rugby Heroes Osea Kolinisau, Masivesi Dakuwaqa and Emosi Mulevoro, as well as, Miss World-Fiji, Pooja Priyanka.

“Our Judging Committee had a very difficult decision to make. We had some very good entries for this competition,” said the Honorable Faiyaz Koya.

“We are extremely proud of our Fijian Made products and our largest international sporting event, Fiji International that is currently taking place in Natadola. We look forward to seeing these young winners experience this event first hand. The Fijian Government’s partnership with PGA of Australia to host the Fiji International has enabled us to grow the local interest in golf and prepared our tourism industry to better cater for the golf-tourism market,” added the Honorable Minister.

fijiintl2Ms. Edwards and Ms. Hakim were all smiles when they received their hampers from the Hon. Minister and Permanent Secretary for Industry, Trade and Tourism.

“I’m really excited and can’t wait to go to the Fiji International,” said Ms. Edwards.

“I never expected to win, but I’m looking forward to meeting the Brand Ambassadors and spending the day at the golf tournament,” said Ms. Hakim.

Through Fiji International we hope to nuture and grow more champions like Vijay Singh. The “Give Golf a Go” Roadshow was one of the many initiatives executed to help achieve this goal.

We are dedicated to growing the game of golf, so to see so many Fijian’s introduced to the game and have the opportunity to win an exclusive Fiji International experience is a great initiative,” said Brian Thorburn, Chief Executive Officer of the PGA of Australia.

“We congratulate not only the winners, but also the Ministry for Industry, Trade and Tourism for developing such a fantastic promotion and their dedication and vision to grow golf in Fiji” added Mr. Thorburn.

The Fiji International tournament is held at the Natadola Championship golf course from 6-9 October.
