In a press conference held during the final day of the FTE 2016, the Minister of Industry, Tourism and Trade, Honorable Faiyaz Siddiq Koya and the Executive Chairman of Tourism Fiji, Truman Bradley, announced plans to stage the first FTE Golf Day presented by the Fiji International on the Monday before the Expo in 2017.

Natadola Bay Championship Golf Course and home to the Fiji International, will host 60 International buyers and media together with 20 Tourism Industry members for an 18-hole 4-person Ambrose golf event, followed by lunch and prize giving on the stunning 4th hole.

“The Fiji International plays an important role for golf tourism in Fiji. By hosting the FTE Golf Day presented by the Fiji International, it presents an opportunity for international buyers to have a taste of the Fiji International experience and package golf in Fiji with other amazing tourism experiences our country boasts,” said Honorable  Faiyaz Siddiq Koya, Minister of Industry Trade and Tourism.

The theme for the FTE 2016 is Team Fiji, which was conceived from the idea that together all partners in the industry have a stronger presence in the global market.

“We believe that the FTE Golf Day presented by the Fiji International will shape and enhance next year’s event and showcase the great diversity of quality products available in Fiji to existing and new international industry partners.” said Truman Bradley, Executive Chairman of Tourism Fiji.

Thanks to a new co-sanctioning agreement between the PGA Tour of Australasia and The European Tour, the Fiji International will become even more global in 2016.

The European Tour is one of the strongest Professional golf tours in the world and 2016 will see their global presence boosted with their first visit to Fiji.

This new co-sanctioning relationship is set to attract a stronger field, with more nationalities represented than ever before when the tournament is played at Natadola Bay Championship Golf Course from October 6–9.

One of the key drawcards of the Fiji International is in fact Fiji as a destination. Players are able to bring their families to enjoy a holiday, whilst they compete in a world-class tournament.

This year, the Fiji International will expand its global presence and confirm its position as an integral tournament in the South Pacific region.

The tournament also boasts some of the most unique hospitality options in world golf with the par-3 fourth hole providing the perfect vantage point to watch the golf, whilst socialising on the beach.

More than just a golf tournament, the Fiji International aims to leave a lasting legacy for golf in the Pacific region, with the PGA of Australia supporting initiatives to grow the game of golf in Fiji.
